Our client is a power distribution component manufacturer with a long history. They are primed for aggressive expansion into new and existing markets. We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to create and release mechanical drawing packages for our growing customer base. This role will also have responsibility for coaching and mentoring the mechanical engineering team.

Lead Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:

• Develop and update, and release mechanical approval and manufacturing drawings inclusive of sheet metal fabrication details and Bill of Materials
• Design sheet metal enclosures for electrical equipment according to ANSI/NEMA standards for both indoor and outdoor installations.
• Create component arrangement drawings based on the electrical bills of material.
• Provide technical support to sales and distributors as needed
• Support company-wide initiatives, including quality improvement projects to maintain best-in-class service

Lead Mechanical Design Engineer Qualifications:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years experience in sheet metal electrical enclosure design and fabrication OR
• Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with 5+ years of sheet metal electrical enclosure design and fabrication
• Experience with the design of sheet metal enclosures for electrical equipment and familiarity with ANSE/NEMA standards for indoor and outdoor installations
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD or other software
• Strong understanding of sizing and bracing calculations for copper busbar systems
• Experience developing assemblies, weldments, and sub-assembly drawings and part details including circuit breakers, interrupter/disconnect switches, and cable support mounting.
• Demonstrated success supervising or mentoring peers and team members
